WhatsApp is bringing more AI-driven personalization features to its platform, and the latest one in development involves AI-generated chat wallpapers using Meta AI. Soon, users will be able to customize their chat backgrounds by simply typing a prompt — from nature scenes to abstract art — giving conversations a fresh and personal touch.

Meta AI Wallpapers: Personalize Chats with Prompts

According to WaBetaInfo, the feature is currently being tested and is expected to roll out in the coming months. Once live, WhatsApp users can input text prompts to generate unique wallpaper designs via Meta AI. Whether you want a serene beach, a neon cityscape, or something whimsical, the AI can bring your vision to life instantly.

The wallpapers will also be editable after creation, allowing users to tweak elements like color schemes, background objects, or even insert animals — making each wallpaper truly personal.

A Step Up from Basic Themes

Until recently, WhatsApp only offered a handful of static background colors and basic themes. With this upgrade, Meta AI will take chat customization to the next level, letting users tailor their messaging space per contact or group — ideal for personal or aesthetic expression.

Meta’s generative AI capabilities have already expanded through its standalone app, which functions similarly to ChatGPT and Gemini Live, offering both voice and text interactions. Now, these tools are being integrated directly into WhatsApp, a platform with billions of users globally.

Secure AI, Inspired by Apple’s Private Computing

Meta reportedly aims to secure its AI-powered features through privacy-first technologies, possibly similar to Apple’s Private Compute system. While details remain under wraps, this indicates a focus on data protection as AI becomes more embedded into messaging experiences.

More WhatsApp Features on the Horizon

Alongside AI wallpapers, WhatsApp is also preparing to launch contact-free group creation. This feature will allow users to create a group without immediately adding members. Instead, they can share a group invite link or code afterward, streamlining the group setup process — especially useful for events, communities, and collaborations.

A More Personal, AI-Powered WhatsApp

These developments reinforce WhatsApp’s broader shift toward AI-enhanced, user-centric experiences. From smarter tools to more expressive visuals, Meta is clearly positioning WhatsApp as more than just a messaging app — it’s becoming a customizable, intelligent social platform.
