Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has rolled out a major upgrade to its TCS MasterCraft platform, now powered by generative AI and agentic AI technologies. The new capabilities are built to significantly accelerate the modernization of legacy software systems — reducing costs by more than 70% and delivering results at double the usual speed.
AI-Driven Legacy Transformation Made Simpler
The AI-enhanced MasterCraft helps organizations extract core business logic from outdated systems with precision and speed. By automating most of the code analysis and conversion, it eliminates much of the manual labor traditionally involved in legacy app modernization.
One of the largest banks in North America has already used this solution to transition its mainframe systems. The results? A 3x faster delivery timeline and 2x productivity gains, all while building a robust knowledge base with 90% less manual effort.
AI-Powered Code Conversion at Scale
TCS is also collaborating with a major financial services firm in the US to modernize over 50 million lines of COBOL code, converting it into Java using the AI-integrated MasterCraft. This approach not only accelerates legacy migration but also allows teams to retain and reuse system knowledge efficiently.
By leveraging generative AI and agent-based automation, TCS aims to help enterprises future-proof their systems while lowering total transformation costs and timelines.
